Sandy Stehling
(aka Carl Stehling)
Sandy Stehling has been playing guitar long enough that he really should have more to show for it than calloused finger tips. He began playing guitar in college when he should have been studying, as his college transcript indicates. To this day, guitar playing remains his favorite method of avoiding productive activity.
He studied classical guitar at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, where his teachers told him that he had a great future - in computer programming. He has played on street corners and in taverns in cities in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. He has provided incidental music to Shakespeare plays, accompaniment to singers, and background music to restaurants and wedding receptions. He has inflicted himself on audiences at coffeehouses, house concerts, and music festivals throughout Wisconsin and the mid-west, usually without lasting ill effects.
His repertoire includes classical music, American folk music, ragtime, the blues, Celtic traditional music and his own compositions. It is a musical attic filled with a wide variety of knick-knacks, some valuable, some amusing, all of them entertaining.
