Same steps but for QT Pro
version 6.5
1. Open
the movie you want to convert in QuickTime 7.1. Under File, select Export.
2. In the
window that opens navigate to the location where you would like the movie
saved. Click-hold on the pull-down window after Export and select: ÒMovie to
QuickTime MovieÓ from the list.

3. Click
on the Options Button. In the window that opens, click on click on the Settings
button under the Video heading:

4. In the
window that opens, make these selections:

You can select ÒAutomaticÓ for
Key Frames if you want the encoding to go faster, but ÒAllÓ is better when the
material varies quickly due to motion. 15 fps or slower is recommended for the
web.
Leave the ÒQualityÓ setting at ÒMediumÓ and select the desired Frames per second (15 fps is suggested for many applications like web videos). Leave the data rate cell empty and set key frame rate to match the fps (E.G. Ò15 framesÓ for 15 fps) for diverse imagery and 4-10 times the fps rate for consistent imagery (E.G. Ò60-150 framesÓ for 15 fps). Click OK.
Note: If you do not want to
change the overall brightness or darkness or color of the movie, you can jump
to step #6.
5. To change the overall brightness, contrast or color balance, color hue or color saturation of the movie, click on the FILTER button under the Video Heading.

5. a) In the window that opens, click on the ÒAdjustmentsÓ heading:

Brightness & Contrast
To change overall Brightness and Contrast, click on the Brightness,..
subheading. In the window that opens, drag the pointers up and down the scales.
The image gets darker when the BRIGHTNESS is moved to the left and the CONTRAST
is increased when that pointer is moved to the right. You can see a preview in
the provided window. You can save the settings for future use or reference by
clicking on the SAVE button.

Tips:
(1) To negate or turn a setting OFF,
slide the pointer
near the center position and click on
it.
Or
(2) If you Command-Click on a pointer, an entry window will open
and
you can enter the number you want numerically:

HSL
To change overall Hue, Saturation or Lightness, click on the HSL
subheading. In the window that opens, drag the pointers up and down the scales.
The hue gets warmer or redder as you move it to the left and cooler or bluer as
you move it to the right. The color saturation goes from no color on the far
left to increased color above Ò100Ó to the right. The Lightness knob behaves a
Brightness knob. You can see a preview in the provided window. You can save the
settings for future use or reference by clicking on the SAVE button.

RGB Balance
To change the color balance, click on the RBG Balance subheading. In
the window that opens, drag the pointers up and down the scales. The color
balance for each of the primary colors can be individually altered. You can see
a Preview in the provided window. You can save the settings for future use or
reference by clicking on the SAVE button.

5. b) Click ÒOKÓ to close
the Filter Menu Window.
6. Back in the previous window, click on ÒSize.Ó In the window that
opens, click on the pull-down menu at the top and select, Ò320X240 QVGAÓ

320 X 240 pixels is recommended for the web but you can define any size
you want at this step.
7. If there is a sound track, click on Settings and select:
Sample Size: 16 bits
Channels: 2 (Stereo)
Sample Rate: 48K (I use
48K because most videos are made in AvidFreeDV or another DV format that is 48K
and its better to not do a sample rate change you donÕt need to do.)
Compression Format: IMA 4:1 (very compatible and mp3 quality
comparable).
8. Place a check in the box next to it, ÒPrepare for Internet Streaming.Ó

9. Click ÒOKÓ at the bottom right.
10. Make sure the file name has a Ò.movÓ extension
and click ÒSAVEÓ in the lower right corner.

The resulting QuickTime movie can be uploaded to just about any server and will embed and play in most browser windows if there is a QuickTime plug in the browser.
