Recipes For Slime

Some terms:

  • 50/50 glue - a mixture with half water and half glue (50% of each). Distilled water works best if you have it. Elmers white glue also seems to work best.
  • Saturated borax - made from "20 mule team" borax. Keep putting a spoonful of borax into distilled water until there is some solid that will not disappear (dissolve).

Classic Slime: This is what we made on the air. It works well and has few troubles, aside from overnight on a rug.

Lotion Slime: This was flowing down the slalom course. It is a little more messy and a little harder to work with.

Talcum Slime: This is not a messy slime, but it is harder to get just right than Classic. It is hard to avoid chunks of talc.

Starch Slime: This uses starch instead of borax and it is a LOT messier. It is very sticky. It washes off pretty well with water though.

Chalk Slime: A variant of starch slime that can be made with chalk or plaster of paris. Also rather messy and hard to work with, but not quite as sticky.

PVA Slime: Made with polyvinyl alcohol solution. It's a LOT harder to make this solution, but the resulting slime is fairly distinctive - more like silly putty.
