Stalin Over Wisconsin: The Making and Unmaking of Militant Unionism, 1900-
1950 (New Brunswick: Rutgers University Press, 1992) is a history of labor-management relations in the Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Company in Milwaukee Wisconsin. It examines the technological evolution of the West Allis Plant, the failure of AFL craft unionism from the 1900s through 1920s, the development of militant CIO unionism in the 1930s and 1940s, and the management assault on aggressive CIO unionism in the postwar 1940s.
