Professional Information

I am a recently-tenured associate professor at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee.  I spent two years as an assistant professor in a tenure-track position at the University of New Orleans .  I am particularly interested in decision making on the United States Courts of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court , but I also have interests in public opinion, Supreme Court decision making, decision making on the state courts of last resort, lower state and federal court behavior, nonlawyer judges (because my father was Municipal Judge for the City of Oconto), and comparative courts (especially transnational courts and the role of courts in democratization).  I teach courses in American Government, Judicial Politics, Constitutional Law, and Political Methodology at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.  I have published several articles, two  books (linked here and here), and was Co-PI on the National Science Foundation -funded Justice-Centered Supreme Court Databases .  (Please click here  for my vita in Word.)
