John R. Reisel

Hello! My name is John Reisel, and I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. I was born and raised in Chicago, IL. I went to St. Ignatius College Prep, and graduated in 1985. I received my bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University in 1989, and then went to graduate school at Purdue University, receiving my master's degree in 1991 and my Ph.D. in 1994. I have now been working here for 14 years.

At UWM, I generally teach courses in the thermal sciences...primarily in thermodynamics and related applications. My research interests are mostly in the area of applications of laser diagnostics in combustion, and the development of alternative fuel technologies for vehicles.

In my free time I like to golf, ride my bike, watch sporting events, read, and use my computer. I am a big fan of the Chicago Cubs, and I also root for the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Bulls, Chicago Blackhawks, Villanova Wildcats, Purdue Boilermakers, Loyola Ramblers, and the UW-Milwaukee Panthers.

Upon the strong request (but not insistence) of my wife, I will add that I am married with a young daughter.
