Born December 17, 1971 Louisville, KY. Education: B.F.A. Studio Art, University of Louisville. M.F.A. Photography, The Ohio State University. Thesis: Performance of Self and Jewish Physical Difference in Postmodern Narrative. Italian Art and Art History, Universita per Stranieri, Perugia. Marc Tasman first started performing in Louisville, KY in the 1970's. His early work, entitled Resisting Bedtime, won him acclaim from his parents, who eventually awarded him the prestigious honor of staying up late to watch Saturday Night Live. He went on to create a cast of characters including Choc Latai Tzvi (The Chocolate Messiah), Bleu Jew (Jewish Superhero, Judischer Ubermench), and Schlepper Le Lepper, Ironist. While completing a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Photography from the Ohio State University, Tasman worked with such notable artists as Ann Hamilton, Sandy Skoglund, and Tony Mendoza, among others. After graduation he moved to Chicago's Hyde Park to live with his newlywed wife, while teaching at Columbia College's Academic Computing Department, then to Milwaukee's East Side where Tasman is the Digital Arts and Culture Program Coordinator and teaching in the Jounalism and Mass Communication Department at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, and is an Artist in Residence for Artists Working in Education, and Melton Arts. His wife, Dr. Bonita P. Klein-Tasman, Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, is the granddaughter of Montreal poet and politician, A.M. Klein. |
