Description: This software provides and electronic means of presenting lectures on vertebrates to high school students. The main feature is a series of 45 lectures (called "presentations") that include graphics and sample animations. The presentations are given via audio only; the text is not printed to the screen. A test, consisting 49 questions, is available in both a "pre-test" and a "post-test" option. Simple assessment measures (%correct) are available. The software also includes a series of interactive tutorials, which are essentially tests with imbedded content delivery. This software would be an effective supplement to the lecture component of a biology class.
Evaluation (10 being highest):Notes: A glossary is included. The text of the presentation is available in audio form only (as opposed to text printed on screen); therefore use of this software could be disruptive to other students in the room. A pre-test and post-test is included, with assessment feedback given to the student during the test. The software would serve best if the student was asked to take the pre-test before viewing the presentation.
