Students must meet one of the following:
- Math placement Level B
- Test score of 30 or better
- Grade of C or better in Math 105
- Score of 5 or higher on the IB Mathematical Studies - SL
- Score of 3 or higher on the AP Statistics exam
- Repeat 2 cr of Math 115.

- A scientific calculator. NOTE: A graphing calculator is not necessary. Even if
you have one, you will still need to draw graphs by hand.

| GRADING |
- Three exams, 30% each (the final exam is not cumulative)
Make-up exams will only be given with a written medical excuse.
- Attendance: 10%
- Homework: not graded, but absolutely essential for success.

| RECIPE FOR SUCCESS IN THIS CLASS: |
- Read the relevant textbook sections in advance
of the lecture. When reading, have pencil, paper,
calculator, ruler and graph paper handy and work out
the examples and 'Matched Problems' as you read.
The lecture material follows the textbook material
very closely. If you don't fully understand something
while reading the textbook before class, it will likely
become clearer during the lecture.
- Attempt at least some of the homework problems
in advance of the lecture.
- Do not miss class! One class during Winterim is
equivalent to one week during an ordinary semester.
Turn your brain on, be active and participate.
- Do all homework problems.
- Do at least some of the unassigned problems.
- Come to see me if you feel you don't understand
something.

Incompletes may be given when all of the following

- You are passing the course with the work that has been completed.
- You have only a "little" work to be finished.
