Starting with the objectives of our investigations about the functional ecology of Daphnia we show results from the small, close-up of how food is ingested to how it is handled and caught to the larger picture of how the food is picked from the feeding current, how this current looks like and how it is generated by the animal. The next pages will be dedicated to the swimming, the orientation in the water and the interactions between animals.
