COURSE DESCRIPTION

Numerous surveys of personnel and corporate managers have consistently indicated that communication skills (interpersonal, presentational speaking, and teamwork) are among the most important factors that help graduating college students obtain employment. It is virtually guaranteed that no matter what your field, or how much specialized knowledge you have about your job, communication skills will be vital to your professional success.  This course is designed to enhance your interpersonal, presentational and teamwork skills as they apply in organizational settings.  After completing this course, you should have both a better understanding of organizational communication practices, and have gained some experience in applying, and practicing, those skills.
 
 

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
 

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of, and practical competence in, managing interpersonal relationships in organizations. 
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of, and practical competence in, interpersonal communication in the interview process.
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of, and practical competence in, group communication processes in the organization, especially teamwork and managing meetings.
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of, and practical competence in, business presentations.
  5. Demonstrate knowledge of, and some practical competence in, the use of technological communication in organizations.
