January 2008...Dr. Kanter was awarded a Medicaid Infrastructure Grant to develop a Behavioral Activation toolkit focused on helping unemployed women with depression find and maintain employment..

June 2007...Dr. Kanter received funding from the Charles E. Kubly Foundation to conduct research on stigma and depression.  In October, he hosted a two day workshop bringing together local community advocates and national research experts on stigma.

April, 2006... Dr. Kanter and Dr. Azara Santiago-Rivera received a Research Growth Initiative award from UWM for a project entitled "Behavioral Activation Treatment for Depression in Latino Adults: A Pilot Study."

December, 2005... Dr. Kanter was named a Research Scholar for the Center for Addictions and Behavioral Health Research (CABHR) to conduct research on the stigma of depression.  CABHR awarded Dr. Kanter a $20,000 grant to conduct this research.
