I am currently pursuing a doctoral
degree in the experimental psychology program at the University of
Wisconsin-Milwaukee, focusing on behavioral neuroscience. I am a 2006
graduate of Alma College in Michigan.
In the Helmstetter lab, I am currently
investigating the maintenance of an established fear memory. It appears
that the inhibition of protein kinase Mzeta (PKMz) is sufficient to
reverse certain types of memories. Work in our lab has demonstrated
that inhibition of PKMz in the amygdala appears to be able able to
erase a day-old contextual fear conditioning memory. I am currently
investigating the time course and expression of this phenomenon.
