University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee
Mathematics Placement Enhancement Program
MATH PEP

If your Mathematics Placement Level is 10

To attain a Placement Level 10 you needed an Elementary Algebra Standard Score in the range 432 - 850 and an Intermediate Algebra Standard Score no higher than 364.

To reach Level 20 you need an Elementary Algebra Standard Score of at least 477 and an Intermediate Algebra Standard Score in the range 365 - 499.

Select your Elementary Algebra Standard Score from the following list to see if you qualify for the MATH PEP program:
387 , 405 , 422 , 439 , 455 , 470 , 485 , 500 or higher .

If your Elementary Algebra Standard Score is lower than 386 you are not eligible to participate because we believe that the MATH PEP program is not right for you owing to the short amount of time over which it runs. Contact us for other suggestions about how to improve your Placement Level.

If you are interested, we use the following formula to determine your eligibility. (Hey, it's algebra, right?)
If your intermediate Elementary Algebra Standard Score (E) and Intermediate Algebra Standard Score (I) satisfy

max{500-E,0} + max{406-I,0} < 114,

and you have Placement Level 10 you may participate in the MATH PEP program.

For example, if your Elementary Algebra Standard Score is 450 and your Intermediate Algebra Standard Score is 400, you are eligible because
max(500-400,0) + max(406-400,0) = 100 + 6 = 106 < 114.
