Signing Up for Math PEP
If it sounds like Math PEP is for you, we ask that you do the following.
- Go to the ALEKS Corporation
website,
and try out the software with their 48 hour free trial subscription.
- If reviewing mathematics this way resonates with you, get an ALEKS license
from the
UWM Bookstore . You will have a choice of length of license.
All things being equal, we would recommend the 11 week license, as we believe
that everyone should take this test twice unless they test at grade level.
If
you would like advice from us about how long of a license to buy, drop us a
line. If you cannot get to the bookstore, they will ship a license to you
for about 5 dollars.
- Follow the directions in the ALEKS booklet. When you a prompted for a
course code enter one of the following, depending on where you would like to
start reviewing:
- For Beginning Algebra and Arithmetic: MW69V - KD333
- For Intermediate Algebra: DCKJR - 3KQAY
- For College Algebra: MN4EW - LLNDN
- For Trigonometry: 6WD9G - CMM6N
Since the placement test will begin with beginning algebra and arithmetic,
you should probably begin your review here. If you are on top of this
material, you will quickly be moved on to more challenging material. Our
experience last year was that some students had a harder time on the placement
exam with this material than with later material, and that their review with
ALEKS really helped with portion of the exam.
- Do not buy a license directly from the ALEKS website
if you want us to monitor your progress! If you buy a license directly
from the ALEKS corporation we have no way of tracking your progress, so we
will not be able to advise you with your review. If you don't want our help
then go ahead and buy a license directly. Be advised that you are then on
your own and we cannot intervene on your behalf.
- Send us an email so we know you have activated your ALEKS account.
