Early Math Placement Test Program

The Early Math Placement Test Program (EMPT) is a program run by the University of Wisconsin System to give high school students an indication of their level of preparedness for the University of Wisconsin System Mathematics Placement Exam. This test is administered by individual high schools. The results of this test do not substitute for the placement test itself. To find out if your high school participates in the program, contact your school administrators. This is a valuable opportunity because it will give you some feel for where you are and what the actual placement exam will be like.

If your school is not currently participating because they are unaware of the programs existence, or do not know who to contact, here is some useful information. We strongly urge you to get your school to participate!

  1. Early Math Placement Test Representatives is a list of email addresses and telephone numbers for the committee that oversees the program. Contact someone in your area on this list.
  2. To order test materials, call Jennifer Coburn at (608) 262-5863.
  3. Program Description At this link you will find information about the EMPT in general.
  4. Test Objectives Here you will find a list of the topics covered on the EMPT.
  5. For further information on EMPT, call Char Tortorice at (608) 262-5863.
