Applied Numerical-Analysis, Curtis F. Gerald and Patrick O. Wheatley, 7th Edition, Addison Wesley, 2004.
Prerequisite
Grade of C or better in Math 231, Math 232, and Math 234.
Course Overview
- Chapter 0. Preliminaries: Sections 0.4 and 0.6.
- Chapter 1. Solving Nonlinear Equaitons: Sections 1.1 to 1.5.
- Chapter 2. Solving Liner Systems: Sections 2.2, 2.4, and 2.5.
- Chapter 3. Interpolation and Curve Fitting: Sections 3.1 to 3.3, 3.6.
- Chapter 5. Numerical Differentiation and Integration: Sections 5.1 to 5.3, 5.5, 5.6.
Grading
- Midterm Exam: 25 % on
March 15, 2005.
- Six home work evaluations: 40 % (including the program assignments).
- Attendance: 5 %. 1 % reduction for one class missing.
- Final Exam: 30 % on May 18, 2005 (12:30 - 2:30 PM)
- Grading scale: A (90-100), B+ (86-89), B (80-85),
C (70-79), D (60-69), F (below 59)

- March 20 - 27: Spring Break

Rules
Books, notes, and graphic calculators/computers are NOT allowed to be used for
all tests.
No makeup for tests and quizzes except those that are missed because of a
religious observance, illnesses (with a doctor office letter), or when called to
active military duty service.
