Textbook
Essential Calculus, James Stewart, Thomson, Brooks/Cole, 2007.
Prerequisite
Grade of C or better in Math 232.
Course Overview
Chapter 10. Vectors and the geometry of space.
Chapter 11. Partial derivatives.
Chapter 12. Multiple integrals.
Chapter 13. Vector calculus. Sections 13.5 to 13.9 are optional.
Grading
The course grade score is the average of your three test scores and
your final exam. score, plus 5 credit points for excellent attendance. Here each
test is 100 points and the final exam. is 200 points.
Grading scale: A (93-100), A-
(90-92), B (83-89), B- (80-82), C (70-79), D (60-69), F (below 59).
Important Dates:
- Three Tests: 09/27/07, 10/23/07, 11/20/07
- Final Exam: 5:00-6:50 PM, 12/18/07 (in PHY Room 149)
- September 4: First class
- October 2: Last day to drop without "W"
- October 27: Last day to drop
- November 22 - 25: Thanksgiving Holidays - No classes.
- December 11: Last Class
Rules
Books, notes, and calculators/computers are NOT allowed to be used for
all the tests and the Final Exam.
No makeup for the tests and the final exam except those that are missed because of
religious observance, illnesses (with a doctor office letter), or when called to
active military duty service.
Attendance to the class is recommended. Extra credit (5 points) will be added
to your final grade score if you keep an excellent attendance (i.e., less than three absences).
