This site is an avenue for dessiminating results on Daphnia sensory system gathered as part of my PhD thesis work. Most results are a work in progress and focus primarily on defining behavioral parameters important for understanding response to chemicals by the organism as well as identifying chemoreceptors by focusing on areas that come into contact with the feeding current. By investigating the behavioral response of these organisms to different chemical stimuli we can improve the use of Daphnia as a biosensor. Currently my work is being divided among these two main projects, and a variety of smaller projects dealing with Daphnia sensory, behavior, physiology and morphology. You will find more information on these if you follow the links on the left. If you have any questions, suggestions, or want to just learn more about Daphnia look through these pages and feel free to contact me any time. |
