Schenström family recipe
1 c. water
1 (seville) bitter orange peel
1 piece ginger (ginger root)
2 pieces cinnamon stick
8 whole cloves
1 t. whole cardamom
1/4-2/3 c. sugar
1/5 gallon (normal size wine bottle) red wine (dry- Merlot or Cabernet
Sauvignon)
½ c. vodka
raisins
blanched almonds
Boil first group of ingredients, covered, for 30
minutes. Strain. Add to wine and vodka. Add sugar to taste. Serve hot in coffee
cups with raisins and blanched almonds.
