Workshops
in Geometric Topology

Ric Ancel and Craig Guilbault are co-organizers of a
popular series of NSF sponsored summer workshops. Other organizers are: Dennis Garity (Oregon State University), Fred Tinsley (Colorado College), Gerard Venema (Calvin College) and David Wright (Brigham Young University).
The 2009 Workshop (June 4-6, 2009) will be held on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and feature Mladen Bestvina of the University of Utah as principal speaker. If you are interested in attending, please check out the website.

Here is some information, including links, about some other recent workshops:
- The 2008 Workshop was hosted by Brigham Young University with David Wright the main organizer. Cameron Gordon of the University of Texas was the principal speaker.
- The 2007 Workshop was hosted by Calvin College with Gerard Venema the main organizer. Peter Teichner of UC-Berkeley was the principal speaker.
- The 2006 Workshop was hosted by Oregon State University with Dennis Garity the main organizer. Ruth Charney of Brandeis University was the principal speaker.
- The 2005 Workshop was hosted by Colorado College with Fred Tinsley the main organizer. Tom Farrell of Binghamton University was the principal speaker.
- The 2003 Workshop was held in conjunction with the Wasatch Topology Conference in Park City, Utah (hosted by Brigham Young University). David Wright was the main organizer of the Workshop and Martin Bridson of Imperial College, London was the Principal Speaker. A special event in honor of the 60th birthday of Jim Cannon was included with these conferences.
- The 2002 Workshop was held at Calvin College Gerard Venema acting as principal organizer. Principal Speaker was Alexander Dranishnikov of the University of Florida. A special session in honor of Bob Daverman on the occasion of his 60th birthday was held in conjunction with this workshop. Click here for a collection of photos taken at these events.
** SPECIAL NOTE ** The organizers of the Workshops in Geometric Topology with the support of the National Science Foundation are currently preparing electronic versions of three famous unpublished manuscripts written by Robert D. Edwards in the 1970's. For details (including downloads) click here.
