How to Find the Parashiyot for Any Year

The tables herein are adapted from the "Gaster Prayerbook" used in the Spanish and Portuguese Synagogues of England. I express my indebtedness, and as a matter of respect have retained their numeration, and page arrangement. The transcription has been modified to make it easier to follow.

In order to see a table of the Parashiyot for any year, you need three pieces of information:

  1. Is the year a regular year (with twelve months) or a leap year (with thirteen months)?
  2. What is the date in Tishri of the first sabbath of the year?
  3. What is the date in Elul of the last sabbath of the year?

You can use the Jewish/Civil year Calendar to get this information. If necessary, please go there, get the information and return here to continue, using the "back" feature of your browser. You may want your browser to print that Jewish/Civil year for you before you return.

You are now ready to find the appropriate table.

If the year is a leap year (i.e. it has two Adar months, or more than 380 days in the status line) please click here. Otherwise, proceed.
