COURSE INFORMATION AND REQUIREMENTS

In this course students will write in a number of creative nonfiction formats, including the personal experience article, personal opinion essay, review, and profile as well as a researched article using a creative nonfiction approach. The course will cover using fiction techniques, such as metaphor, dialogue, voice, and point of view, to make the nonfiction writing more eloquent and dramatic. The assignments are:

In addition, each student will:
Present a manuscript to the class. This involves reading the work out loud and receiving feedback and evaluation from other members of the class.
Lead the class in a discussion of a published creative nonfiction work.

GRADUATE STUDENTS: Additional 1000-1500-word article, format of their choice.
