Successful completion of one 400-level writing course
Approval of the instructor (based on committee approval)
Approximately 50 internship placements have been arranged with a
variety of Milwaukee-area organizations and businesses in the following
fields:
- Publishing
- Public Relations and Advertising
- Corporate Communications Departments of Companies
- Not-for-profit agencies
- Technical writing firms

The duties of student interns include a variety of writing,
editing, proofreading, and researching tasks. To enroll in this course,
fill out an application form, available in the English Department office
(Curtin 439). The application asks applicants for a summary of their
school and work experience, references, and a sample of their writing. A
brief editing test is also included. A faculty committee screens
applicants for their competency in English grammar, punctuation, and
usage, as well as for their ability to conduct themselves appropriately
in the workplace.

Magazine, Irish American Post, Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co.,
Time Insurance Co., the Hunger Task Force of Milwaukee, the Milwaukee Art
Museum, Robert W. Baird & Co., M&I Data Systems, Deluxe Data Systems,
Sprecher Barrett Bertalot, Hughes Ruch & Murphy, and Harry W. Schwartz
Bookshops.
