Internet Accounting Tour

For this assignment you will be visiting some interesting World Wide Web sites related to business and accounting. The purpose of this assignment is twofold:

  1. To expose you to a sample of the accounting and business resources on the web.
  2. Start, or continue, your exposure to accounting software.

To do this assignment, plan on spending at least two hours on the web. Visit at least three sites, one of which must be an accounting software package's homepage. Your subject heading in your email to me=internet accounting tour. Your email should include the names and addresses of the three sites you visited plus the five most interesting things you learned at each site. This should result in a total of 15 interesting items. Note: Although this assignment was recently updated, remember that the web changes constantly. Thus sites, or links on sites, that were there yesterday may be gone today.

Read through the description of all the sites, then choose an area of interest:

The seal indicates my choice in each category.

ACCOUNTING WWW SITES

AICPA

If there was a site award given for the best comeback effort given an embarrassing starting point, the AICPA homepage would win hands down. While there visit Assurance Services to get a taste of what's to come for the profession. Then go to the Vision Project to see that we accountants have the latest and greatest in glitz. When you get there click on the "Set our Preferences" link to see how you can customize your background, text, etc. It's totally glitz but its cool and it shows we are now leading instead of following. Equally impressive is the stereo sound and fantastic animations. Be sure to click the door at the bottom of the left frame on the initial page and follow the icon "Journey to the Future."
