About Me Page

Did you know that UWM is a Carnegie Research II university?

As such, your professors are responsible for doing a significant amount of research in addition to their teaching duties. Would you like to see my resume and find out the other things I am up to professionally?

Would you like to know what my students thinking about my teaching? Here are my student ratings.
Would you like to know about me?

I'm really into my family, my students and my relationship with God. As a matter of fact, so many things have happened lately--the disaster of 9/11, the moral/ethical meltdown of corporate America, the 19 accounting majors who decided to cheat, and the death of one of my students last spring--that I decided to write about why God is such a big part of my life. If you want to read about what He did when I was in college to make Himself real in my life and how He later literally saved my life, click here.

I have the two most darling girls in the world. (I may be a little biased here) Here's what they look like now (Amy and Sarah). Here's one of my favorite pictures of them when they were little. And here is a picture of the newest addition to our family--my husband's girlfriend :-) Carly!

I LOVE (not just like or enjoy) BUT LOVE my students!!! They are consistently wonderful and make my life very special. I really like being with them during such an important stage in their lives and it's fun to be able to teach them stuff that I know will help them as they start their careers and professional lives. Every semester I am really bummed when they leave me, but I've learned over 23 years that I'm going to get great ones the next semester too, so it makes the parting easier!

I like golf, tennis and waterskiing. I love to watch basketball and football but I don't get to do it much anymore. My favorite teams are of course the Bucks and the Packers!

The top ten things I think rock are (in no particular order):

  1. Chocolate and Cappuccino and Shrimp.
  2. Sunsets at Cedar Lake --they are awesome and my favorite time in life.
  3. The FISH radio station (105.3)--It plays GREAT upbeat contemporary Christian music like Switchfoot (especially "Gone"), Michael W. Smith, Rebecca St. James, Bebo Norman, Jars of Clay, Delirious, Jaci Velaques, Jenni Owens, News Boys.
  4. Teaching -- I LOVE my students.
  5. Doing just about anything with Roger and the girls.
  6. When I hear from old students--eg. I probably heard from over 25 of them just this summer!!!
  7. Reading a great book (Like the Left Behind Series!!!!) or watching a good movie.
  8. Traveling, especially overseas, I love Europe, Israel and Mexico.
  9. Hanging out with the Lord in my paddle boat underneath the stars.
  10. Doing something to help someone in need, such as the Gathering (which you can do for extra credit in my class) or sponsoring kids like my ones below.

Here are my favorite pictures of my family...

I am involved with these two great kids from the inner city -

Henry and Tashieka

If you are ever looking for a volunteer opportunity they live at the Ginger Bread House and there are lots of kids down there who would love to see you.

I also sponsor a few children who live in orphanages--Alma, Patrice, Carlos.
We spent last spring break in Mexico taking care of all the kids at the orphanage. It was so awesome!
