Searching for a Graduate School: Using the Internet

=========================================================================

University Web Pages

Most colleges and universities have a presence on the World Wide Web. If you connect to the main web site at a university, you can usually see a good representation of the school's programs. It's a good idea to add likely sites to your bookmark list, so that you can return and get updates.

Several places to look are listed below. It's a good idea to use more than one of these search tools. Search engines, like the individual sites listed below, are largely dependant on colleges and universities to register their websites, so a geographical search through a search engine could possibly identify some schools not listed with the compilation websites, and vice versa.

Geographical Searches

NOTE: Not all of the lists in this section are exclusively graduate lists.

An extremely valuable resource is Christina DeMello's list of WWW Pages for Universities all over the world. If you are looking for a university in a particular geographic location, this is a good place to start looking. This site is mirrored in other places, so that you should be able to connect to it.

Another valuable list, of American universities, located at the University of Florida, is maintained by Mike Conlon.

Search Engines

Many internet search engines organize their educational listings geographically.
