ATSH usage
- 1. Open a Finder window
- 2. In the sidebar of the Finder window, click Applications
- 3. Open the Utilities folder
- 4. Double-click X11 to launch the X Window Manager
- 5. If no xterm window appears, choose Terminal from the Applications
menu
- (remember that the xterm window often appears in the "secondary" LCD
projector display)
- 6. With a return after each line, type:
cd /B50\ MUSIC\ APPS/
cd ats-1.0-osx/
./atsh &
- 7. Choose New ATS File from the ATSH Analysis menu
- 8. Click the Set Input Soundfile to locate a mono soundfile for
analysis
- a. grab the /B50 MUSIC APPS/ats-1.0 0sx button and pull down to /
- b. double-click Volumes/ in the Directories subwindow
- c. double-click BIG BRUCE/ in the Directories subwindow
- d. navigate from there to the soundfile of your choice
- e. select the file (single-click) in the Files subwindow
- f. click the OK button to choose the file and dismiss the window
- 9. Fill in other analysis parameters as desired
- 10. Click the Do Analysis button
- 11. Select partials and manipulate selections using the Transformation
menu
- 12. Render your transformed sound using the Parameters option from the
Synthesis menu
- 13. Switch to your xterm window and type return if you need a new
command prompt
- 14. With a return at the end of the line, type:
mv /tmp/atsh_out.wav /Volumes/BIG\ BRUCE/
- This copies the soundfile from a temporary directory to the root
level of BIG BRUCE
- You can specify a BIG BRUCE subdirectory by appending the name to the
end of the path, for instance:
mv /tmp/atsh_out.wav /Volumes/BIG\ BRUCE/Burns-Music420/
- To issue this command repeatedly (each time you render a new sound),
enter the xterm window and type up-arrow, then return.
- 15. When you're finished, choose Quit from the ATSH Analysis
menu, then choose Quit X11 from the X11 menu!
