Information about Stat465

Minitab 14 is available in the Math Department lab (EMS E425) and on all machines around campus. The professional version is expensive, and the student version, while inexpensive, is missing some essential routines (such as GML, which we will be using frequently). A better alternative (if you wish to have your own copy of Minitab) is to rent or purchase it from e-academy (click on the first button, for Release 14). You can go to the Minitab webpage for technical support. Minitab 15 is already available, so I suggest you get it. The course will be compatible with either one.

The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics has an interesting web page for playing with sample means and medians (click on Overview > E-Examples, and scroll down to 6.6: Comparing Properties of the Mean and the Median).
