Ann Hains participates in the early childhood exceptional education teacher preparation program. Her research interests are in the areas of early childhood transitions for children and families, and personnel development. Professor Hains participated in a number of early education programs for children with disabilities demonstration, outreach and inservice projects and has been funded for early childhood/early intervention personnel preparation grants. She is currently co-principle investigator of “VIVA! Vital Issues in Virtual Assemblies,” a UW-System catalyst grant from the U.S. Department of Education, Preparing Tomorrow’s Teachers to Use Technology (PT3). Dr. Hains is a research site coordinator for the National Early Childhood Transition Research and Training Center at the University of Kentucky. She is co-author of Bridging Early Services for Children with Special Needs and Their Families: A Practical Guide for Transition. She is past president of the International Division for Early Childhood of the Council for Exceptional Children. Dr. Hains writes about personnel preparation in early intervention, collaborative practices, instructional technology, and families. She is a member of the editorial board for Topics in Early Childhood Special Education and the Journal of Early Intervention.
