Formal Report Outline
Formal Report Outline
Business Writing: English 205
Professor Alred
Date Due ~ See Course Schedule
Submit a "detailed outline" (as described in class) for your formal
report. Submit the following:
1. A clear photocopy or original print of that outline,
which will be roughly as long as the report itself.
2. All the note cards used to create the outline
(normally this means at least one pack or 100 note cards).
3. Place both these items in a 9 x 12" envelope and place your name in the
upper-right hand corner.
You should compose the outline from the note cards on your computer;
therefore, you will have a head start on the draft. Of course, your final
report does not need to adhere to this outline--even though most of what
you will cover in the report should be there.
This Assignment Will Be Worth Two Grades:
[F] = How closely the outline form reveals the procedure
[R] = How the notes/level of detail reveal adequate research
Hint ~ See "Note Card Method for Outlining" with sample outline
There is also a binder on two-hour reserve in the UWM Library under
"ALRED" titled
Outlining. It contains material
on the outlining process and examples. See handbook entries

taking as well as
