The FINAL EXAM will be on Tuesday, December 17 from
12:30-2:30 pm. It will be comprehensive and you will be allowed to
use MAPLE.
Special office hours for final exam time:
Friday 12-3 pm; Monday 2-4 pm; Tuesday 11 am - 12:30 pm
SECOND MIDTERM EXAM, covering chapters 3 and 4, will be in
class on Friday, December 5. It will last the whole class period
and it will include Gateway Exam 4. Those who don't pass
Gateway Exam 4 will have another chance to take it in class on
either Monday, December 8 or Wednesday, December 10.
Please look here for a list of topics we've
covered in Chapters 3 & 4. The best way to prepare for the exam is
to go over the homework problems (all of them, not just the ones turned in)
and the review exercises at the end of each chapter.
Ground rules for this exam:
the test is closed book. The first part of the exam will be Gateway
4; you will have up to 30 minutes to do this part. You may not
use the computer or a calculator on this part of the exam.
The second part will contain other problems covering Chapters 3 & 4.
You may use MAPLE and you may use a calculator if you wish
on the second part only - but neither is required.
Office hours before the exam:
Wednesday 3-4 pm;
Thursday 10-11 am, 2-4 pm;
Friday just before class
