260 Making Music Connections with Children. 3 cr. U. Experiencing music through interactive participation by singing, listening, moving, creating, and playing classroom instruments. Collaboratively teach multiethnic music for children in class. Prereq: Admis to School of Educ.

350 Field Experience I. 1 cr. U. Experience working with children in cooperating school systems in or near Milwaukee. Supervision by critic teacher or qualified individual. Prereq: admis to teacher certification prog.

351 Music Instrument Lab. 2 cr. U. Practical experience with folk and recreational-instruments, e.g., autoharp, dulcimer, guitar. Methods and materials for use with children and adults. Prereq: Music 345 or 346; Music Educ/Therapy majors only.

379 Music in Elementary Schools. 2 cr. U. Classroom application of musical skills and materials, i.e., listening, singing and rhythmic and creative activities. Outside classroom observation desirable. Prereq: admis to School of Educ and Music 101 or 345; non-music majors only.

385 Guitar Pedagogy. 2 cr. U. Studies in the pedagogy of guitar for class and private studios. Prereq: jr st; cons instr.

450 Field Experience in Music Education II. 1 cr. U. Experience working with children in cooperating school systems in or near Milwaukee. Supervision by critic teacher. Prereq: admis to teacher certification prog of the Peck School of the Arts, & Mus Ed 350.

451 Teaching Instrumental Music: Elementary and Middle Levels. 2 cr. U. Group ensemble pedagogical techniques in elementary and middle schools; survey of band and orchestra literature; marching and jazz techniques; organization and administration of instrumental music; offered spring semester only. Prereq: admis to teacher certification prog in School of the Arts.

452 String Pedagogy. 1-2 cr. U. Survey of string pedagogy, methods, and materials. Prereq: 2 sem of stringed instrument and admis to teacher cert prog. (string principals enroll for 2 cr; woodwind, brass, and percussion principals enroll for 1 cr). Approved only for undergrad cr.

455 Positive Approaches: Music Education Classroom Management. 1 cr. U. Stimulate thinking as evidenced by verbalizations demonstrating ability to logically analyze and criticize behavior. Prereq: admis to teacher cert. prog.

460 Teaching Elementary General Music. 3 cr. U. Methods, materials, and observation of teaching vocal music in grades K-6. (offered in fall only). Prereq: admis to teacher cert prog of the Peck School of the Arts. Not approved for grad cr.

461 Teaching Secondary General Music. 2 cr. U. Methods and materials for teaching classroom music; work with creating, performing, and listening techniques; model course designs; related arts-humanities format; and appropriate resources. Seventh grade through adult. Prereq: admis to teacher cert prog of the Peck School of the Arts. Not approved for grad cr.

462 Teaching Secondary Choral Music. 3 cr. U. Methods and techniques for teaching choral music; work with organization choral program, auditioning, choosing music, program planning; rehearsal techniques, public relations, and setting up a choral library. Seventh grade through adult. Offered in spring semester only. Prereq: admis to teacher cert prog of School of the Arts. Not approved for grad cr.

463 Teaching Instrumental Music: Secondary. 2 cr. U.
