Statement of Transfer Students' Rights and Responsibilities

As a student transferring to UWM you have both rights and responsibilities with regard to the transition. Your rights include:

  • Receiving complete information from UWM about our transfer admission requirements, documents required for admission, and financial aid and scholarship policies.
  • Receiving information from UWM about transfer of courses, credit hours and quality points.
  • Four to six weeks after official notification of your acceptance, you will receive a written statement of advanced standing (transfer credit evaluation).
  • You may request an appointment with an academic advisor prior to admittance to UWM. However, until your transfer credit evaluation has been completed by the Department of Enrollment Services, advisors will be able to provide you with strictly unofficial information regarding your advanced standing at UWM.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Making sure that you understand UWM's policies regarding transfer admissions, course transfer, financial aid and scholarships. This includes being aware of deadlines, restrictions, etc.
  • Completing and submitting all material which is required for application in a timely manner. Keep in mind that it takes four to six weeks to receive a transfer credit evaluation.
  • Notify UWM whether you are accepting or rejecting your offer of admission.
