The College of Letters and Science's Southeast Asian-American Student Services (SAASS) office is specifically designed to provide Southeast Asian (Hmong, Laoian, Vietnamese, and Cambodian) students with supportive services to help them reach their educational goals.
Services Provided
SAASS can help you:
- Receive intensive academic advising
- Understand university policies and procedures
- Complete financial aid and scholarship forms
- Resolve academic, personal or career issues
- Connect you to Hmong, Laotian, and Vietnamese student organizations
- Celebrate your success
- Find organizations and programs on campus to support your goals
- Learn more about your career options.
Community Outreach
SAASS offers programs as requested by the Southeast Asian community. SAASS supports and participates in community events.
Special Programs and Services
UWM offers several programs and services that are particularly beneficial to Southeast Asian students.
- Asian Studies Certificate Program--coursework based on Asian history, economics, geography, culture and language.
- Southeast Asian Student Organizations--Hmong, Laotian, and Vietnamese students of UWM have developed separate student organizations. Each group offers social, educational, personal and cultural support to members. All students are invited to join!
- English as a Second Language--offers students an opportunity to improve their English skills through intensive instruction.
- Offers Hmong and Lao language/cultural courses.
