Pre-Professional Academic Advisors

Patricia A. Cobb, M.S.
Health Pre-Professional Advisor
Senior Student Services Coordinator, 130 Holton Hall, Phone: 414-229-3922

As a senior staff member in the UWM College of Letters and Science, Patty is responsible for providing academic and career advising for pre-professional students. Patty has worked in the Student Academic Services office since 1986. She holds a graduate degree in Educational Psychology and has completed post-graduate coursework in the Urban Education doctoral program at UW-Milwaukee.

In addition to providing the academic information necessary to complete UWM degree requirements, Patty provides students with information about their intended professional field of studies. This includes instruction regarding the application process to professional school, admission requirements, and career advising. Given the very competitive nature of gaining admission to various professional programs, she strongly encourages students to meet with her on a regular basis.

As a strong proponent of experiential learning, Patty has been instrumental in the development of internships and mentoring programs for her students. Examples of these programs include: The UWM/Medical Society of Milwaukee County Mentoring program for pre-medical students, Hospice Internships, several internship programs for Pre-Veterinary Medical students at exotic animal facilities throughout the country, a Pre-Chiropractic mentoring program with a local hospital, a Mentoring Program with the American Association of Podiatric Medicine and the Introduction to Pharmacy course for pre-pharmacy students.

For more information about pre-professional advising at UWM, please feel free to contact Patty at (414) 229-3922 or email: pacobb@uwm.edu. If you would like to make an appointment to meet with Patty, please call (414) 229-4654.
