Visiting Assistant Professor of Global Studies

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Global Studies Program is seeking a Visiting Assistant Professor to teach interdisciplinary courses within the Bachelor of Arts degree program in Global Studies, a pre-professional degree program encompassing five tracks (Global Management, Global Cities, Global Classrooms, Global Communications, Global Security). Candidates should hold an earned PhD and demonstrate teaching experience and research on transnational issues relating to one or more of the following themes:

  • migration
  • international law
  • non-governmental organizations
  • international conflict management
  • media studies
  • information technology
  • intercultural communications
  • policy dimensions of globalization
  • ethical dimensions of globalization

The successful candidate will receive a non-tenured appointment for the 2008-09 academic year, beginning August 18, 2008, with expectation of renewal for two additional years. In conjunction with this appointment, the candidate will be expected to teach three 3-credit Global Studies courses per semester or, alternatively, two 3-credit and two 1-credit courses, depending on the needs of the program. Among other courses, we anticipate that the candidate will teach Global 101 People and Politics and Global 202 Globalization and Information Technology (http://www.uwm.edu/Dept/CIE/GS/GScourses2.shtml).
