Position Title: Information Processing Consultant (Computer System Administrator). This is a full-time fixed-term academic staff (non-faculty) position.
Starting Date: September 15, 2007 or as soon as possible.
Position Description: The Einstein@Home Project in the gravitational-wave research group in the UWM Physics Department (http://www.lsc-group.phys.uwm.edu) is seeking a computer system administrator to maintain the hardware and software of the Einstein@Home computing project.
Responsibilities: Maintain the main Einstein@Home servers, set up auxiliary data servers for host institutions, prepare and maintain, insuring integrity, of the Project's input data and of the returned results.
Qualifications: Good working knowledge of Linux software and of the UNIX operating system administration are required. Also required is the ability to maintain/repair/upgrade hardware, to program in C or C++, Python and/or other scripting languages and 2 years of work-related experience. Knowledge and first-hand experience in large-scale (Grid) scientific computing are desirable.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience: $40,000-$50,000 annual (12 month) salary rate.
