A position as Post-doctoral Research Associate is available for study of the causes of variation in mate preference functions. The project involves a reaction norm approach for estimating genetic and environmental sources of variation, and characterizing plasticity in preference functions. There is a special focus on the effect of experience of behavioral interactions on variation in mate preferences. Study organisms include treehoppers (Membracidae) and other Hemiptera.
Requirements: PhD in Evolutionary Biology (or a related area), with a focus on sexual selection, post-copulatory sexual selection, mating behavior, acoustic/vibrational communication, or behavioral ecology.
This is a full-time position with support for two years.
