Fall 2008 SeminarsItalianFinding the Italian in YouSimonetta Milli Konewko, Lecturer We will examine some of the major forms of folklore, including folktales, legends, ballads, proverbs, and film. We will investigate the ways in which Italians communicate with each other not only through narratives but also through displays of the body, of house and street, the exchange of food, and the performance of music during festivals and processions. Simonetta Milli Konewko was born and raised in Tuscany Italy where I developed a love for the traditions and culture of the area. Although I grew up and got my Laurea degree there, I have strong connections to the United States where I have been living with my family for 15 years and where I obtained my PhD. I like to tell my students that I am available to meet their needs, to honor their individual strength, to give them a sense of pride, and to focus on the idea that the classroom is a place where we can share thoughts and learn from each other. I like to cook, watch movies, walk, and ski. Number: ITL 192, SEM 001 Check current enrollment information. |
