Africology

African American Life Stories

Sandra E. Jones, Assistant Professor

This freshman seminar will examine the African American experience through the eyes of prominent figures from the arts to social movements, past and present. Using memoirs, biographies and autobiographies, students will explore important moments and phenomena in Black American life through the lens of those lived them. Students will be guided through their own process of life story writing.

Dr. Sandra E. Jones is an Assistant Professor in the UWM Department of Africology. She specializes in African American literature and theory, African American women's literary history, and multicultural Education.
