1. Call to Order - The Chair, David Heathcote, called the meeting to order at 2:05 pm in HLT 241.
   
   
2. Special Order of Business: Discussion with Dean Richard Meadows - Dean Meadows discussed the state of the L&S budget. He indicted that there is a great deal of uncertainty concerning the amount of hiring, if any, the College will be able to do in the coming year. He also discussed the effects of the RGI program on the budget and his intention to provide something for top proposals that could not be funded during this competition. In addition, he talked about his efforts to address the salary compression problem in the college and his intention to identify funds to address the significant compression felt by approximately half of the faculty and academic staff in the college. Dean Meadows indicated his interest in meeting with the Committee again in early May.

   1. Approval of 2005-2006 Minutes #3 (February 2, 2006) & #4 (March 9, 2006) - There were no objections to either set of minutes; they stand approved.

   1. Distinguished Professorships - Discussion of the proposal was tabled due to time constraints.
