  1. Call to Order - The chair, Kathryn Dindia, called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m. in HLT 241.

    It was moved, seconded, and approved to suspend the agenda to accommodate guests.

    VI.A.2.   It was moved and seconded to recommend to the Faculty and the Dean approval of the addition of four new tracks (Global Cities, Global Classrooms, Global Communication, Global Security) to the Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies. Patrice Petro, Sara West-Tully, and Nan Kim-Paik answered questions from committee members and discussed the evolution of the proposed tracks. An amendment was approved to require a minimum of 36 L&S credits numbered 300 or above for those degrees granted solely by L&S (Global Security; some Global Communication). The motion, as amended, was approved.

    VI.C.1.   It was moved and seconded to recommend to the Faculty and the Dean approval of the request for authorization to implement a Master of Arts in Spanish. Ismael Márquez discussed the history of the development of the proposal and answered questions. Gabrielle Verdier answered questions about the impact of the proposal on MAFLL. She had not seen the proposal previously and asked that a copy be sent to her. The motion was approved.

    VI.A.2. It was moved and seconded to recommend to the Dean approval of the proposal to modify the requirements of the combined MA in Geography/MLIS degrees. Dennis Wei answered questions about the proposal. The motion was approved.

    It was moved, seconded, and approved to return to the order of the agenda.

No one responded. Kathryn will work with Connie Jo to develop a potential list of members.

      2. Recommendation to revise the MS in Physics to Add a Medical Physics Track - It was moved, seconded, and approved to recommend to the Dean approval of the addition of a medical physics track to the MS in Physics.

      2. Request to Modify the Capstone Requirement of the Communication Major - It was moved, seconded, and approved to recommend to the Dean approval of the proposal to modify the capstone requirement of the communication major.
