- Call to Order - The chair, Kent Redding, called the meeting to order at 1:02 p.m. in Holton Hall 241.
It was moved, seconded, and approved to suspend the agenda to accommodate guests.

- Procedural Matters
- Semester II Meeting Schedule - Connie Jo asked that the meeting scheduled for Tuesday, February 17th be changed for to Tuesday, February 22nd. The Committee approved the change.
- Process of Consultation for Overlap - Members of the Committee discussed the situation where proposed subtitles appear to overlap the content of courses offered in other departments. After much discussion, the Committee agreed that Connie Jo consult the department concerning the significant overlap with one of its courses. Upon notification, the department will have twenty-one days to respond. If the designated department does not respond, the topic will be allowed to go through. Members agreed that if there is a dispute concerning a topic, the departments disputing the topic must present the issue to the Committee for review.

- Degree Requirements - Foreign Language Requirement - Kent Redding gave a brief description of the foreign language requirement. He reviewed the proposal by the Degree Requirement Review Subcommittee for changing the foreign language requirements. It was mentioned that the Dean asked the Committee to review this issue. Connie Jo commented that Madison had a model that some members of the faculty felt clarified the requirements in a foreign language. After much discussion, members agreed to write up a draft and discuss the issue further via email.
