    It was moved, seconded, and approved to suspend the agenda to accommodate the guests.

    VI.A. It was moved and seconded to recommend to the Dean approval of the proposal to change the requirements of the Biotechnology Certificate. Mary Lynne Collins gave a brief summary and answered questions concerning the changes. The motion was approved unanimously.
    VI.C.2.   It was moved and seconded to recommend to the Dean approval of the proposal to modify the requirements of the Comparative Literature Major. Robin Pickering-Iazzi gave a brief summary and answered questions by the Committee. Madeleine Velguth noted that the proposal called for adding Spanish 448 and 449 to the "Exclusions" list, but these two courses did not appear in the new copy. The document will be corrected to include them. In addition, Sara suggested that the statements describing the audience for each option be moved to follow immediately after the option heading. With these changes the motion was approved unanimously.
    VI.D.1. It was moved and seconded to recommend to the Dean approval of the proposal to revise the requirements of the Organizational Administration Major Option of the Committee Interdisciplinary Major. Kathryn Dindia gave a brief summary of the revised requirements and answered questions. The motion was approved unanimously.
    VI.D.2. It was moved and seconded to recommend to the Dean approval of the proposal to change the structure of the Organizational Administration Coordinating Committee. Kathyrn Dindia gave a brief explanation concerning the change and answered questions. The motion was approved unanimously.

    It was moved, seconded, and approved to return to the order of the agenda.

      1. CAR Form/GER Requests - It was moved, seconded, and approved unanimously to recommend to the Dean approval of the following CAR forms/GER requests:

        Committee members expressed concern over the statement in the syllabi prohibiting certain behaviors in class. Genevieve McBride agreed to communicate the Committee's concerns to the instructor. Connie Jo reported that the APCC had just imposed a moratorium on requests related to GER credit. The College has a number of such requests in process. With the upcoming catalog deadline, it is important to departments to have these requests reviewed as soon as possible. The Committee members agreed to add discussion of this situation as an item of New Business.
        JMC 445 Health and the Media (new)

        Committee members expressed concern over a statement in the syllabus that students could earn extra credit for being a research subject. Christopher De Sousa will communicate this concern to Associate Dean Eleanor Miller.
      3. Proposal to Change the Requirements for High Honors in the Political Science Department - It was moved and seconded to recommend to the Dean approval of the proposal to change the requirements for High Honors in the Political Science Department. Connie Jo gave a brief summary of the changes and answered questions by the Committee. The motion was approved unanimously.

      1. CAR Forms - English 278, 279, 280, 374, 375, 381, 522, and 524 were withdrawn from the agenda. Associate Dean Charles Schuster asked that the CompLit and Spanish faculties review these courses for objectionable duplication or overlap. It was moved, seconded, and approved unanimously to recommend to the Dean approval of the following CAR forms:

      4. Request for Commun 621 subtitle to meet the International requirement - It was moved, seconded, and approved to recommend to the Dean approval of the request for International status for the Commun 621 subtitle "Communication in International Mediation and Peace."

      2. Proposal to Change the Structure of the Organizational Administration Advisory Committee - see above.
      3. Discussion of APCC moratorium on GER requests - approved as an addition to the agenda. Connie explained that Dean Meadows planned to relay the College's concerns to Suzanne Falco, APCC Chair, and Rita Cheng, Associate Vice Chancellor. It was moved and seconded to contact the Dean expressing the Committee's support for his efforts to convince the APCC to apply the moratorium only to CAR forms initiated after the APCC's vote in favor of a moratorium. The Dean should be given the option to cite the committee's action if he feels it will be useful. The motion was approved.

  7. Adjournment - The meeting was adjourned at 1:35 p.m.
