    1. Summer Actions - The Committee authorized the chair to act on behalf of the entire committee to approve non-controversial items submitted during the summer.

    2. French 426   Growing Up French - CAR approved previously for level change and prereq change; need to drop GER-HU to get grad approval. It was moved, seconded, and approved to recommend to the Dean approval of the elimination of the GER-HU designation for French 426.

      1. CAR Forms - It was moved, seconded, and approved to recommend to the Dean approval of the following CAR forms:
      2. Pol Sci 371   Nationalism and Ethnic Conflict (new) - Genevieve Mc Bride asked that the instructor be contacted requesting that the syllabus be structured according to Provost guidelines.
        Sociol 330 Economy and Society (new) - Genevieve asked that the instructor be contacted requesting the instructor to check the syllabus for the sentence structure.
      3. Proposal to Add a New Track to the Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies - view on the web at: http://www.des.uwm.edu/intranet/Opc/viewform.cfm?FormID=536 - It was moved, seconded, and approved to recommend to the Dean approval of the proposal to add a new track to the Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies.

      1. Proposal to Modify Requirements of the Biochemistry Major - view on the web at: http://www.des.uwm.edu/intranet/Opc/viewform.cfm?FormID=443 - It was moved, seconded, and approved to recommend to the Dean approval of the proposal to modify the requirements of the Biochemistry major.

Proposal to Modify Requirements of the Certificate in Premedical Studies - view on the web at: http://www.des.uwm.edu/intranet/Opc/viewform.cfm?FormID=541 - It was moved, seconded, and approved to recommend to the Dean approval of the proposal to modify the requirements of the Certificate in Premedical Studies.

      1. CAR Form
      2. French 592   Seminar in French Language: (Subtitle) (new) - Madeleine Velguth agreed to contact the instructor of the course requesting the instructor to make revisions to the syllabus clarifying the grading to meet the grad school approval. It was moved, seconded, and approved to recommend to the Dean approval French 592, contingent upon the syllabus being revised.
      3. GER Request
      4. Ethnic 497   Study Abroad: "The Irish Experience" subtitle - It was moved and seconded to recommend to the Dean approval of the GER-HU designation for this specific subtitle of Ethnic 497. Members of the Committee discussed the syllabus. Dean Schuster questioned whether the description of the course satisfies the definition of the GER-HU. The motion was defeated unanimously.
      5. Proposal to Modify Requirements of the Celtic Studies Certificate - view on web at: http://www.des.uwm.edu/intranet/Opc/viewform.cfm?FormID=545 - It was moved, seconded, and approved to recommend to the Dean approval of the proposal to modify the requirements of the Celtic Studies Certificate.

  7. Adjournment - Sara Hoot and members of the Committee presented Connie Jo with flowers, thanking her for her outstanding efforts and superb work on the Committee and the degree requirements review. Denise Mueller thanked the Committee on behalf of Connie. Members of the Committee commended the chair, Sara Hoot, for her leadership. She responded by saying that she enjoyed the committee and would miss serving. Members agreed that it was a difficult year with a lot of work, but they enjoyed serving on this committee. The meeting was adjourned at 10:55 a.m.
