Certificate Program in French and Francophone Studies Advisory Committee Annual Report, 2001-2002

During the academic year 2001-2002 the coordinator conducted business as usual. The list of approved courses in the fall and spring semesters included courses from half a dozen departments.

Thanks to a grant from the Center for International Education, through the Area Studies Coordinating Committee, the program was able to co-sponsor the following:

  • the annual LGBT Film Festival, which included three French films (October);
  • the visit of the Quebec musical group Mataput, during National French week (4-9 November);
  • the lecture by Dominique Decherf, French consul general in Chicago, on "Diplomacy, Religion, and the State of World Affairs: A View from France" (14 November);
  • the annual French Film Festival (February).
