College of Letters and Science Faculty Document No. 622 October 17, 2002 Committee on Committees Annual Report, 2001-2002 The Letters and Science Committee on Committees met twice during the 2001-2002 academic year: October 2, 2001, and March 7, 2002. October 2 The Committee briefly reviewed its charter for the purpose of clarifying Committee functions. The Committee agreed to recommend to the Dean that David Mulroy continue to serve as Parliamentarian. Members agreed that meetings should be called as necessary. Campbell Tatham, the Chair, announced that he would be on sabbatical during the Spring Semester and suggested that a co-chair be elected to serve in his absence. Marlin Carlin was unanimously elected to serve as co-chair. The Annual Report for 2000-2001 was approved. The Chair reported that a letter in which the Committee expressed its concern about the process by which Distinguished Professors Designations are granted was sent to the University Committee, and no response was received. Committee members agreed to forward the same letter to Ann Snyder, the 2001-2002 University Committee Chair. The Fall meeting of the L&S Faculty was approved for November 1, 2001, at 3:30 p.m. The draft agenda was approved with one addition. The Committee approved the form sent to faculty asking for preferences for committee service. March 7 Martha Carlin was unanimously elected to serve as Committee chair for the 2002-2003 academic year. The Spring meeting date (April 11) and agenda of the L&S Faculty were approved.
