- Call to Order - The chair, Stacey Oliker, called the meeting to order at 11:10 a.m. in HLT 190. The meeting, originally scheduled in HLT 241, was moved to provide access to a chalkboard.

- Procedural Matters - None
- Old Business
- Review of Position Requests - Stacey Oliker asked members of the Committee to briefly summarize the associate deans' recommendations for members who were absent from the previous meeting. Gerald Bergtrom recapped the position requests that Associate Deans Harris and Schuster felt were priorities in Natural Sciences and Humanities. Swarnjit Arora gave a brief summary of Associate Dean Miller's priorities in the Social Sciences. Committee members had a long discussion about how to proceed. They agreed to recommend thirty positions to the dean. A representative of each subcommittee (HU, NS, SS) reported the subcommittee recommendations. The Committee voted unanimously to recommend the following positions:

Committee members agreed that a few of the remaining positions should have a higher priority if we are able to hire for more than thirty positions. In no particular order, those positions are:

- Art Hist (1) - Contemporary Art
- English (1) - US Latino/a Literatures in English - in consultation with Spanish and Portuguese
Stacey will draft a memo to the dean and circulate it to committee members.
