- Chair Merry Wiesner-Hanks called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m.
- The HPC meeting minutes of September 19, 2001 were approved.
- Director's Report.
Baldassaro announced that Judith Scott from the Baird Corporation recently donated $5,000 for an Honors Program Scholarship for the 2002-2003 academic year. In addition, Honors Program Alumna AJ KleinOsowski and her spouse Kevin donated $500.00 for a scholarship to be awarded to an Honors student in Engineering, Computer Science, or the Natural Sciences. The KleinOsowski's expect to donate annually to the Honors Program scholarship fund.
Baldassaro reported that the Search and Screen committee for the Bradley Professorship in Philosophy was appointed. Michael
Liston, Department of Philosophy, will chair the committee. Margaret Atherton and John Koethe, both from the Philosophy Department, will share a position on the committee due to their sabbatical schedules. Other members are: John Lynch, Department of Health Care Administration; Corliss Phillabaum, Theatre and Dance; and Val Sichi-Krygsman, Honors Program student. The committee met for the first time on December 11th. At that time, thirty-three completed applications had been received.
Finally, HPSA treasurer Val Sichi-Krygsman reported on the successful HPSA booksale that was recently held. The HPSA made around $500.00 on the sale. Renaissance Books purchased some of the books that did not sell. In addition, 18 boxes of books were donated to the Golda Meir Library.
- Baldassaro reported on the latest proposal from the Academy of Scholars. He announced that the Honors Program received
authorization to recruit for a recruiter/advisor. Additional funding seems likely, pending approval by campus administration.
- The meeting adjourned at 10:30 a.m.
